RELATED: Divinity Original Sin 2: The Worst Choices You Can Make In The Game
Even with his serious mission, Beast stays upbeat throughout the adventure. Even when his temper gets the better of him, he bounces back quickly, ready for the next fight. When it comes to combat, this fiery dwarf is capable of playing any role. However, these classes make the most of the Beast of the Sea’s natural abilities.
Updated September 16, 2021 by Demaris Oxman: With his cheerful nature, Beast can bring some much-needed humor to the party inDivinity: Original Sin 2. After all, even serious games need a little levity now and then. But Beast, like any member of an adventuring crew, has to do more than just keep the player’s spirits up. Magisters, Voidwoken, and other foes lurk around every corner, and Beast has to be prepared to deal with them. To that end, this guide has been updated to include the specific stats players should focus on raising depending on what role they choose for this fierce, hardy dwarf.
7 Wayfarer: Doing Damage From Afar
Beast’s racial skill, Petrify, is a simple yet useful tool belonging to the Geomancer category. If players wish to make the best use out of it, it may be worth investing points in Geomancer — and Wayfarers receive an extra point in this skill. Furthermore, the Huntsman tree is deadly in anyone’s hands, and Beast is no exception.
One drawback to this class is that, due to his innate racial talents, Beast serves best as a close-quarters combatant. Wayfarers typically shoot from afar, meaning that his dwarven traits of extra Vitality and dodging are somewhat wasted on this class. Still, Beast can prove useful in this role when it comes to buffing allies’ physical defenses.
Key Stats For This Build
This class is built primarily on the Geomancer and Huntsman combat skills, making those a necessity. The above skills are governed by Intelligence and Finesse , respectively, making them the most important attributes for a Wayfarer. As this class uses bows as their weapon of choice, the Ranged combat skill increases attack damage.
6 Wizard: A Fiery Fighter
Another class that makes use of the Geomancer combat tree, Wizard is a good option for those who wish to maximize the aforementioned skill. Additionally, the hot-headed dwarf is likely more than happy to hurl fireballs at foes, as Wizards do with their high-level Pyrokinesis.

Like Wayfarers, Wizards typically place themselves further from combat. Some may choose to stay on the front lines, but since this class tends to have lower defenses, they risk getting caught in and taking damage from their own fire and brimstone. However, Beast’s increased Vitality means that he won’t take as much damage in the midst of the fray as he petrifies enemies and sets them on fire.
Key Stats For This Build
Intelligence is far and away the most important attribute for a Wizard, as it governs most magical combat skills as well as magic-based weapons. Pyromancer and Geomancer are a Wizard’s key combat skills. Flood the battlefield with oil, and ignite it in massive explosions. If players intend on using Beast as a close-quarters Wizard, high Constitution ensures he can tank hits and stay standing.
5 Enchanter: Master of the Ocean’s Elements
Masters of the elements, Enchanters are a support class that can still pack a punch of their own. As their main skills include Aerotheurge and Hydrosophist, Beast can use this class to boost the power of his Source skill, Blinding Squall (which scales with Aerotheurge).
As a man of the seas, it makes sense that Beast knows how to manipulate water as a Hydrosophist, whether to heal his allies or rain daggers of ice on his foes. The one drawback to this class, though, is that it doesn’t quite fit his character. Beast is a man of action, and it doesn’t quite feel right to put him in a support role. Still, there’s no denying he’s effective.
Key Stats For This Build
As mentioned above, this class’s main combat skills are Aerothurge and Hydrosophist, so level these quickly. Both these main combat skills, as well as staves, are based on Intelligence, making it the most important attribute for this class. Constitution is another important attribute for any support class. Since other party members rely on them for healing and buffs, it’s important that they can take damage without going down.
4 Knight: King of Physical Damage
With his racial talent Sturdy, Beast gains 10% to his max Vitality and 5% to his dodging. Both these traits make him a great choice for the front lines of combat, where Knights tend to stand. Capable of both tanking hits and dealing damage, Beast can hold off Magisters and Voidwoken while the rest of the party provides support and ranged attacks.
This class is oriented towards dealing massive, numerous hits with two-handed weapons and Warfare skills, perfect for this battle-hungry character. As a Knight, Beast can obliterate enemies’ armor and apply all sorts of debilitating statuses, quickly giving his party the upper hand in a confrontation. It suits a character who’s full of vim and vigor.
Key Stats For This Build
Strength is this class’s most important attribute, as it deals entirely Strength-based damage. Warfare and Two-Handed are the combat skills that rule this class, dealing damage up close. These both rely on Strength to function. Constitution is always a good attribute for frontline fighters like the Knight, ensuring they stay standing.
3 Fighter: Sturdy, Strong, Ready To Battle
Much like Knights, Fighters are the first line of offense in battle; however, they prioritize strategy and defense just as much as brute force. In addition to Warfare skills and heavy attacks also incorporate Geomancer skills such as Mend Metal and Fortify. These buff party members and restore Physical Armor, allowing them to last even longer on the battlefield.

The points that this class puts towards Geomancer allows Beast’s Petrify to pack an extra punch — just an extra bonus to a great class choice for him. Additionally, as with other offensive classes, it fits Beast’s spirit to keep him in the thick of the fight.
Key Stats For This Build
As with the Knight, Strength is essential to the Fighter’s style. However, Intelligence also comes into play here, considering the elemental aspects of the class. Warfare is where most of this class’s combat skill points tend to go. At their core, Fighters are all about dealing damage and taking down enemies. Geomancy isn’t quite so vital, but it’s still important to invest points here and utilize buffing skills. With a shield in one hand and a sword, mace, or axe in the other, increase Single-Handed to help a Fighter do more damage.
2 Battlemage: Magic and Brute Force Combined
Beast’s default class fits him well for many of the same reasons Fighter and Knight do. Battlemages also do well in close-quarters combat with their Warfare skills, but add a touch of Aerotheurge magic to their repertoire. As stated before, this works well for Beast considering his innate Source skill.
This class allows Beast to deal massive damage up close and personal, of both the physical and magical sort. It doesn’t matter what enemy the party is up against — with Battlemage Beast at the frontlines, they’ll have nothing to fear. Since this class requires pouring points into Aerothurge, he’ll be able to unleash a Blinding Squall more powerful than ever before.
Key Stats For This Build
The two most important attributes are Strength and Intelligence , increasing the power of physical and elemental attacks respectively. Warfare and Aerothurge allow the Battlemage to deal huge blows, and cripple foes with status effects. Battlemages dual-wield Strength-based one-handed weapons as their default; level up Dual Wielding for melee prowess.
1 Rogue: The Cunning, Clever Pirate
With his racial talent Dwarven Guile, Beast starts out with a point in Sneaking. The Rogue class, meanwhile, gives those who choose it another point in this ability. With these perks combined, Beast is capable of sneaking around undetected right from the beginning of the game.
Sneaking can prove a huge advantage, especially early on. By keeping out of sight of Magisters and other hostile characters, players can gain valuable knowledge and items without starting a deadly fight. Furthermore, when fights do break out, a Rogue’s Scoundrel skills prove devastating. As a man who’s used to skirting the law, Beast fits comfortably into the Rogue archetype.
Key Stats For This Build
Scoundrel skills make up the backbone of the Rogue’s playstyle; invest combat skill points here. Most Rogues fight with a dagger in each hand. To increase damage potential, level up the Finesse attribute and the Dual Wielding combat skill. Sneak is essential to the Rogue play style; invest civil ability points in this skill, and deal deadly backstabs.
